April 24, 2007

Colorado State University head coach Jen Warden today announced that forwards Amaka Uzomah and Carine Reimink have signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) to play basketball at Colorado State University during the 2007-08 season.

Amaka Uzomah (6-0, F, Houston, Texas/Blinn College)

Uzomah, a sophomore forward at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, led the Buccaneers to a 46 wins (the best two-year win total in school history) and back-to-back appearance in the regional finals.  In her two seasons at Blinn College, Uzomah tallied 399 career points and 599 rebounds, breaking the school's career rebounding record.  She earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a sophomore and had 20 rebounds in a quarterfinal win over Angelina College and 18 boards in the finals loss to Tyler, averaging 15.6 rebounds per game throughout the regional tournament.

Uzomah is a native of Houston, Texas where she attended Dobie High School and was a four-year letterman and a first team all-district team and all-tournament team selection.

Warden on Uzomah:  "Amada adds a powerful and competitive presence to our inside game.  Amaka's strength and toughness will match the level of physical play in the Mountain West Conference."

Carine Reimink (6-1, F, Casper, College/Reedy Creek, Queensland, Australia)

Reimink is a sophomore from Casper College in Casper, Wyo.  While playing for the Lady T-Birds, Reimink, amassed 606 career points and 372 rebounds, while leading the team to 47 wins over the past two seasons.  For her career, she averaged 10.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest, as a two-year starter.  A native of Queensland, Australia, Reimink was a two-time first team All-Region IX player and was selected as the WCCAC Player of the Year.

Reimink played high school at King's Christian High School, where she was named team MVP twice and made the Southern Cross All-Star team in 2005.

Warden on Reimink:  "Simply put, Carine scores and rebounds.  She runs the floor extremely well.  With Carine's size and athleticism, she has the ability to step in at the power forward or center position and make an immediate impact."

Uzomah and Reimink become the third and fourth student-athlete signed by the Rams during the spring signing period, and the eighth and ninth to sign with the Rams since last fall.  They join Kandy Beemer (5-5, G, Bedford, Iowa/Jefferson College), Lauren Young (6-2, PF, Edina, Minn./Edina HS), Elle Queen (6-0, F, Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka HS), Whitney Wood (6-2, F, Ladera Ranch, Calif./Santa Margarita HS), Danielle Albus (5-9, G, Aumsville, Ore./Cascade HS), Bonnie Barbee (5-8, G, Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain HS) and Zoi Simmons (5-6, Guard, Fontana, Calif./ IMG Academy (Fla.)).
