Colorado State (6-14, 2-5 MW) is home for one game this week vs. Mountain West-newcomer Nevada (6-14, 1-6) Wednesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT at Moby Arena.

The Wolfpack have a similar record to the Rams, but with just one win at home over Air Force (67-54) in league play. Coming in to Wednesday's matchup, Nevada has lost six-consecutive games.

With the return of two-time all-conference selection, Sam Martin, and the reigning Mountain West Sixth Player of the Year, Meghan Heimstra, the Rams will look to improve upon last season’s 13-17 record. Sophomore Ladeyah Forte leads Colorado State from the point guard position. She finished second in assist-to-turnover ratio in the MW in her rookie year.

The game will be broadcast live on AM 1410 KIIX. Matt Wozniak, now in his fourth season with the Rams, calls all the action. Live game video will also be available for all non-televised home contests via Rams All-Access subscription on CSURams.com, and for the first time, fans will be able to listen to every Rams' game for free on Rams All-Access.

Scouting Report on Nevada

  • Senior Chanelle Brennan leads the team from the field, averaging 13.6 points per game. Junior Danika Sharp follows closely behind with 13.4. Defensively, sophomore Emily Burns averages a team-high 7.0 rebounds per contest.
  • Nevada is near the bottom of the pack in nearly all statistical categories in conference play, except for blocks and offensive rebounds. The Wolfpack average 4.6 denials and 16.3 o-boards per matchup; both rank second in the MW.
  • The Wolfpack have suffered some big losses, (i.e. 92-41 defeat at Wyoming), but in their last two contests at home, Nevada lost by a margin of five to UNLV (66-61) and just three to New Mexico (69-66).
  • Knotted at 28 after the half, Nevada jumped out to lead by nine with 13 minutes left on the clock. The Wolfpack missed eight of their 11 free-throw attempts down the stretch, giving New Mexico the three-point win.
  • Head Coach Jane Albright is in her fifth season with Nevada, and 29th season overall. Albright is 72-78 with the Wolfpack.

Series vs. the Wolfpack

  • Wednesday's meeting between Colorado State and Nevada will be the fifth game between the two schools.
  • The Rams are 3-1 vs. the Wolfpack overall with a 1-0 record in Fort Collins.
  • The last time the two teams played was back on Dec. 3, 2001 at Moby Arena. CSU came out with the win, 84-57.
  • This is Head Coach Ryun Williams first contest vs. Nevada. Until this season, Williams had never played against any team in the MW, aside from CSU.

A win will...

  • Allow the Rams a chance to move into as high as a tie for fifth place in the conference standings, provided both New Mexico and Boise State lose. The Rams are currently seventh.
  • Give the Rams their first win at Moby in the MW season. CSU is the only team without a win at home in league play.
  • Reach .500 for the month of February. Last season, Colorado State was 5-3 in February.

Martin approaching exclusive company
With a career-high 30 points vs. South Dakota Mines on Jan. 4, Sam Martin has reached elite status, entering the top 20 in scoring at CSU. With 1,044 points to date, the Colorado native is ranked No. 16. Seventeen Ram greats have reached 1,000 points in their careers at Colorado State, since the program began in 1974.

Martin has become the second junior in two years to reach 1,000 points before her senior campaign. Kim Mestdagh hit the mark her junior season in 2011, eclipsing 1,000 vs. UNLV on Jan. 18. Like Mestdagh, Martin is the only active junior in the MW with 1,000 career points this season.

The Parker native is also just four rebounds away from 500. If she were to reach 1,000 points and 500 boards this season, she would be just the fifth player in CSU history to do so before her senior year. The last player to accomplish such a feat was CSU Hall of Fame member, Katie Cronin, who reached the goal 15 years ago during the 1997-98 season.

Up Next
Colorado State begins the second round of Mountain West action next Wednesday, after a bye on Saturday. The Aztecs are tied for first in the league at 6-1, with a 15-5 mark overall. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. MT.
