Colorado State (5-10, 1-1 MW) takes its first flight in nearly three weeks to Las Vegas, Nev., to challenge UNLV (5-12, 1-2) on Sunday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. MT.

The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network. Jason Knapp will provide the play-by-play, while Tammy Blackburn is the color analyst. The Rams are in the midst of three-consecutive Sundays on the network this regular season.

With the return of two-time all-conference selection, Sam Martin, and the reigning Mountain West Sixth Player of the Year, Meghan Heimstra, the Rams will look to improve upon last season’s 13-17 record. Sophomore LaDeyah Forte leads Colorado State from the point guard position. She finished second in assist-to-turnover ratio in the MW in her rookie year.

The game will also be broadcast live on AM 1410 KIIX. Matt Wozniak, now in his fourth season with the Rams, calls all the action. Live game video will also be available for all non-televised home contests via Rams All-Access subscription on CSURams.com, and for the first time, fans will be able to listen to every Rams' game for free on Rams All-Access.

Scouting Report on UNLV

  • UNLV hosts CSU coming off two consecutive losses at Air Force (81-69) and vs. San Diego State (74-60). The Rebels opened MW play with a win at home over New Mexico, 68-57.
  • The Lady Rebels are 3-6 at home this season.
  • Senior Kelli Thompson leads the team in scoring with 17.9 points per game. She is followed by sophomores Alana Cesarz (16.2) and Danielle Miller (10.9). Cesarz and Thompson handle the glass with 7.4 and 6.6 rebounds per game, respectively.
  • UNLV is first in the league in steals, averging 11.7 in its first three MW games. The Rebels are also second in turnover margin at plus-4.0.
  • The Rebels have lost three starters from a team that went 22-10 last season, and took its first postseason trip in six years. The team also lost starting point guard, Mia Bell, who is redshirting this year to recover from a knee injury.

Series vs. the Rebels

  • Sunday's meeting between Colorado State and UNLV will be the 36th game between the two schools.
  • This is Head Coach Ryun Willliams' first contest vs. the Lady Rebels.
  • The Rams are 20-15 vs. UNLV overall with a 9-10 record in Las Vegas.
  • Colorado State and UNLV are 2-2 in the past four matchups, but looking further back, CSU has the stronghold, with a 7-2 record over the Rebels since 2008.

A win will...

  • Push the Rams' league record over .500 for the first time this year.
  • Give CSU its second road win of the season, and second in a row. Last season, the Rams earned just three victories away from home and weren't able to pull together a win streak away from Moby Arena.
  • Make the Rams 2-1 in conference play for the second consecutive season.
  • Tally the most wins (3) for CSU in a single month this season. So far, the Rams haven't gotten more than two wins in November and December.

Last time at UNLV (Feb. 29, 2012)
Colorado State couldn’t find its shot from the very beginning of the contest, falling at the Cox Pavilion, 53-48.

With the loss, the Rams will have the third seed in the conference tournament, finishing the regular season 13-16 overall with a 9-5 record in league play. UNLV takes the No. 2 seed with the win, finishing its regular season 22-8 overall and 10-4 in the Mountain West.

Both teams started out cold, shooting below 25.0 percent through the first 13 minutes of play. UNLV found its shot before the Rams, going on a 12-2 run and the Rebels increased their percentage to .357 by the end of the half, while CSU finished with .276.

Colorado State scored just 18 points in the first stanza, its lowest tally in the first 20 minutes this season, and the lowest in either half since Jan. 8 at Seattle.

Sophomore Sam Martin led the team on both sides of the court with a double-double. She tied a career-high 28 points and recorded 11 rebounds. It was Martin’s third double-double of the season.

MW Player of the Year candidate, Kim Mestdagh, was held to just three points, converting on just one of 10 attempts from three-point range.

Freshman Alana Cesarz, who was 0-9 from beyond the arc this season, hit her first three-pointer of the year three quarters through the second half, giving the Rebels their largest lead of the night with 13 points at the six minute mark. Kelli Thompson, one of the four seniors honored this evening, tallied 21 points, while fellow senior Jamie Smith pulled down 11 boards.

Up Next
Colorado State is back home hosting New Mexico on Wednesday. The Lobos are currently 1-2 in the league with a 9-7 mark overall. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.
