HEAD COACH Ryun Williams VS. WEBER STATE
"We've won about every way imaginable, we've won close games, we've won shooting the ball really well, and we've won with different kids stepping up at different times. The thing that I am most proud of, with all the turnovers, all the bad decisions we've made today, maybe our minds were somewhere else, it was pretty evident, but we still found a way to win, and that's what you have to do, you're not going to play brilliant basketball 30 nights out of the year, and today we didn't, but you still have to find a way to win the game, you got to show courage at the right time, and I thought Gritt (Ryder) was really courageous tonight down the stretch.
(On Gritt Ryder)
"I think Gritt is our best shooter, she is our best kick out three point shooter, and you know what, she is the most courageous too. So, we need her to shoot more, we need that three ball, that's a big part of how we play, and we got some kids that are a little streaky right now so it was nice for her to have that type of day."
"Gritt just does what we need, she sensed that we needed aggression, we needed a different gear, and so you saw her get to the rim, you saw her play with a more gritty mentality. That's why shots go in, because you shoot to make them, you drive to get to the basket, you drive to get fouled, and that's what she was doing. I think we all can learn from her performance today."
(on slow start of game)
"We came out pretty timid, we talked about that at half time, we just weren't playing our game. We were passive and passing the ball. They're an athletic team, they were getting those turnovers. I think we had as many turnovers as we average normally."
"We didn't play that well, but were still able to pull that game out and win, going into our conference season with 8-3 and that's big for us. We didn't play that well today, our shots weren't falling as well as they should, but it's good to know we can pull out a win like this when we play like that."
(on Gritt Ryder's performance)
"Gritt (Ryder) did a really good job today. She stepped up when we needed her too and what we needed was to go to her. She went away from scoring a little bit and we realized we needed to get it back into her hands and she was going to do that. She had a great game today and I think that's because she stepped up when we needed her too and helped our team out."
(on winning record)
"I don't think we've ever gone into a conference season with a winning record and that's pretty cool. I think obviously we have to get better and we know that. We're going to want to get back and get better to go into conference really strong. It's nice to have eight wins."
(on slow start of game)
"Sometimes you don't really know what's going on. Like you know you're not supposed to make a bad pass and you made it. Coach was talking about that fact that we shouldn't go on Christmas break before we were done with this game, and I don't know if we said we weren't but in the first half just thought that all we needed was to get done with this and then we would be home with family. I'm glad we changed our turnovers during the second half and that shows that we're capable of change, but it still shouldn't happen."
(on shooting the ball)
"I get yelled at in practice for not shooting enough so I thought this was the game to do it. I got open shots and when they kept going in I kept shooting it."
(on second half)
"When we play together and play defense we start making our shots."
(on winning record)
"We're not satisfied with eight wins, we want it to be 11-0. That's a strong thing about our team, 8-3 is good but we want to get better and improve."
