LARAMIE, Wyo. – Colorado State stuck with Wyoming in front of a crowd of 4,100 through the first half, but costly fouls allowed the Cowgirls to pull away in the second to win 69-52 at the Arena Auditorium on Saturday.

Sophomore’s Kim Mestdagh and Natalie van den Adel registered double figures on the afternoon, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively. Freshman Chantel Kennedy grabbed a career-high nine rebounds, three of which were offensive boards.

The Rams shut out the Cowgirls for almost 5 minutes at the start of the contest. Junior Randi Richardson hit a three-pointer at the 15:09 mark for Wyoming’s first score.

Colorado State applied a full-court press the entire game, taking seconds off Wyoming’s shot clock, but the Cowgirls were able to make half-time adjustments and found Emma Langford and Vandiver who were able to put up quick layups to maintain their lead.

“We took some plays off. That’s not the way we want to play,” said Head Coach Kristen Holt. “It was a tale of two halves. Wyoming took the momentum right away in the second half.”

Wyoming’s Hilary Carlson and Aubrey Vandiver both recorded double-doubles in the matchup. Carlson hit eight of nine free throws.

The Rams now head home for a quick turn-around as they play Air Force on Tuesday at Moby Arena. Tipoff is schedule for 6 p.m. MT and will be televised live on The Mtn.
