The Colorado State men’s golf team, 28th in the latest Golfweek rankings, will play its next tournament, the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, in Palm Desert, Calif., Saturday and Sunday. The tournament, hosted by the University of Wyoming, is held at the Par 72, 7,305-yard Classic Club. The first two rounds of the 54-hole tournament will be held back-to-back beginning Saturday morning. The final round will be held Sunday morning. Eighteen other teams, including two Mountain West foes, will compete in the tournament: Arizona, Boise State, Denver, Gonzaga, Idaho, Long Beach State, UMKC, Northern Colorado, Oregon State, Portland, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, UC Santa Barbara, Utah, Utah Valley, Washington State, Weber State and Wyoming. The Rams are the only team ranked in the Golfweek top 50. The Rams golfers set to compete are Zen Brown, Bryce Hanstad, Dustin Morris, Riley Arp and Zahkai Brown. Sophomore Justin Spray will compete as an individual.

On the leaderboard...
All five of the golfers in Head Coach Jaime Bermel’s starting lineup this week are in the top 10 in the Mountain West Conference for stroke average. The three juniors - Arp, Hanstad and Morris - are second, third and fourth, respectively, all with stroke averages below 71.

2008 Wolverine Invitational
The Rams notched their fourth top-five finish in their last five outings at the Wolverine Invitational on Sept. 21. CSU shot rounds of 286, 282 and 283 for a three-round total of 851 (-1). Morris shot an impressive 4-under-par final round to finish with a total of 211 in 11th place. Arp finished with an even-par total of 213 to finish in a tie for 16th. Zen Brown lowered his season stroke average by shooting a 215 total, highlighted by a 69 in the first round. Hanstad finished with an even-par round to place 40th. Spray finished the tournament tied for 55th with a three-round total of 221.
