Qualifying Information

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Two members of the Colorado State men's golf program - Cameron Harrell and Dominic Kieffer - advanced Tuesday to the 2014 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship at separate qualifying tournaments.

Kieffer, from Byron, Minn., placed first in the qualifying tournament held at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D. The junior carded a two-round score of 138, capturing the lone qualifying spot up for grabs by finishing seven strokes ahead of alternates Matt Weeks and Tyler Jensvold.

Harrell, who hails from Colorado Springs, Colo., finished one stroke off the winning pace at Twin Peaks Golf Course in Longmont, Colo. The senior shot back-to-back rounds of 68 to card a two-round score of 136, and secure one of three qualifying spots. Cole Nygren (135) finished just ahead of Harrell and Chris Korte.

Both Kieffer and Harrell will now compete, July 14-19, at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.

It marks the second consecutive season that Harrell has qualified for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, and the first for Kieffer. At the 2013 event, Harrell advanced to the match play portion of the championship at Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, Va.
