MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Former Colorado State standout Martin Laird, who recently qualified to play in the 2009 British Open, will also compete June 15-21 at the U.S. Open Championship at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y.

Laird was one of 13 golfers, out of 110 competitors, to earn a spot in the Open during sectional qualifying Monday in Memphis, Tenn.  He shot a two-round total of 137 (67-70) to finish tied for 10th.

It will mark Laird’s second time at the U.S. Open.  Laird competed in the 2007 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., but missed the cut and did not finish.
