The 2011 Thunderbird Invitational will be played at ASU's Karsten Golf Course. The course is par 71 and stretches 7,057 yards. Karsten Golf Course was rated "Four and a Half Stars" by Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play"
The 13-team field, including three from the Mountain West, is made up of Arizona State, Cal, Colorado State, CS Northridge, Florida State, Northwestern, Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Jose State, UC Irvine, UNLV, USC and Washington State. The competition holds two teams in the top-20 of Golfweek's March 27 poll. San Diego State is ranked No. 10 along with Cal at No. 18.
Ryan Peterson, Zahkai Brown, Kirby Pettitt, Kory Harrell and Mike Sorenson will be swinging for the Rams this week in Tempe. Peterson is No. 2 in the Mountain West Conference standings. Brown, Pettitt and Harrell are in the Mountain West top-20. Peterson and Brown are both coming off top-10 finishes at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic and look to lead the Rams to the top in Tempe Saturday.
