The CSU men's golf team is headed to Chula Vista, Calif. for the San Diego Intercollegiate Classic. The first 36 holes will begin Monday with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday morning with tee times between 8:45 and 10:39 a.m. The Rams placed sixth in their last outing and look to come out on top of the team standings this Monday and Tuesday.
The 2011 San Diego Intercollegiate Classic will be played at the San Diego Country Club. The course is par 72 and stretches 7,050 yards. The country club has been host to the Annual Pacific Coast Amateur Championship and the annual Women's Amateur Championship.
The 12-team field, including three from the Mountain West, is made up of Air Force Academy, California State-San Marcos, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Nevada, Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego State University, University of San Diego, Southern Methodist, Texas- Arlington.
Ryan Peterson, Zahkai Brown, Kirby Pettitt, Kory Harrell, Mike Sorenson, and Steve Sorenson will be swinging for the Rams this week in Chula Vista. It is a play six, count five tournament format. Peterson remains top five in the Mountain West standings with his 71.73 stroke-per-round average. Not far behind are Harrell and Brown. Harrell is just out of the MWC's top 10 at 11 with his 72.93 average and Brown is right behind him at 13 with his 73.13. Mike Sorenson looks to get his second tournament for the Rams under his belt Monday.
