Next On The Tee
The Rams, coming off of their recent eighth place finish at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, will look for more consistency as they will be competing in the 50th annual Fresno State Lexus Classic. Colorado State will be playing in more favorable conditions, as last week’s wind in Oahu proved to be tough for the Rams.
Head Coach Christian Newton understands that his team had difficulty its last time out, but he believes his team is too talented to be held down. “We got beat up physically and mentally in the tough conditions,” said Coach Newton. “I assured them that we are a very good team regardless of our last performance and that we will go to Fresno and play well.”
Junior Parker Edens, felt that his play was not up to his standards, and he expects himself and the team to rebound. “Last week I struggled with staying positive, patient and focused,” said Edens. “But I think I’m slightly more prepared to compete this week. We had a great regroup week and my practice was very good this week.”
The Fresno State Lexus Classic will be played at the Belmont Country Club. The course was originally designed by Bert Stamps in 1956, but was re-designed by Neil Meagher in in 2008. This 6,570 yard, par 72 course is known as one of the most challenging courses in the area.
Colorado State (66) will be competing along with Arizona (59), BYU (44), California (1), Cal-Poly (134), Fresno State (84), Hawaii (171), UC-Irvine (78), Kansas State (106), Nevada (109), Northwestern (28), Oregon (54), Oregon State (52), Pacific (71), Sacramento State (158), Santa Barbara (101) and Utah (135).
