The Colorado State Rams Men's Golf team will begin its spring season in Oahu, at the 37th John A. Burns Intercollegiate. Colorado State, who has not played since Oct. 31, will be seeing its first true action since the fall, as the Rams participated in an alumni event on Feb. 9.
Head Coach Christian Newton is looking forward to seeing how the three-and-a-half month layoff has affected his players, but he believes that his Rams will be ready to start the spring season on a high note. "The conditions will be tough," said Coach Newton. "The trade winds are going to blow 25 to 35 mph each day, so we will have to be mentally tough throughout all the rounds. We must hang tough no matter how big things may seem."
Junior Parker Edens, who currently has the second best stroke average in the Mountain West, is excited for what the spring has in store. "As a team, we have some great opportunities to have good finishes and make it to nationals," said Edens. "Individually, it's exciting as well, because I have some big goals for myself and hope to build off the great fall season I had."
The John A. Burns Intercollegiate will be played at Turtle Bay Resort's Arnold Palmer Course. The 7,218 yard, par 72 course has been named as one of the "Top 100 Public Courses in the US", as well as the "Best Kept Secret in Hawaii" by Golf Digest.
The Rams (65) will be up against Arizona (64), Brigham Young (62), BYU-Hawaii, California (1), Denver (101), Hawaii (186), Hawaii-Hilo, Nevada (103), New Mexico (4), Texas A&M (25), UTEP (110), UNLV (40), Utah (130) and Washington State (54).

The Rams will give Parker Edens, Kirby Pettitt, Cameron Harrell, Dominic Kieffer, and Jordan Wetsch the start beginning Wednesday. The Rams will begin play at 10:30 a.m. MT time Wednesday through Friday, with 18 holes being played each day.
