Next on the Tee
No. 32 Colorado State heads west this weekend to take on the nation’s best at the Battle at the Beach in Newport Coast, Calif. The action begins Sunday and continues through Tuesday, with one round per day. Live scoring for the Battle at the Beach will be available on golfstat.com.
The Ocean North course of Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Coast, Calif., will be the stage for the competition. The par-71, 6,945-yard course features tremendous slopes and incredible ocean views from every tee.
Though No. 30 San Diego State will be the only MWC opponent, CSU will be competing against some of the best teams in the nation in this tournament. The field will include No. 12 Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Notre Dame, No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 11 Tennessee, No. 10 Texas, Texas-San Antonio, UC Davis, No. 3 Wahington and host schools Long Beach State and No. 15 UCLA.
Due to the format of this tournament, the Rams will send six golfers, dropping the high score each round and summing the lowest five. The six golfers will be Dustin Morris, Bryce Hanstad, Riley Arp, Zahkai Brown, Sean McNamara and Ryan Peterson.
Last time out
Riley Arp turned in a low score of 68 on Feb. 6 at the Stonecreek Golf Club to lead the Rams in a 280-292 victory over Paradise Valley Community College. The dual was scheduled to make up for the day lost to rain at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in October.
