The Rams came out of the gate swinging at the Del Walker on Thursday, setting an all-time low Day 1 score at the tournament. They carried that momentum into Friday to win the tournament relatively uncontested, eclipsing the three-round team scoring record. CSU finished 41 strokes under par after putting up team rounds of 267-268-276 to total 811, 23 strokes ahead of runner-up UC-Irvine. The Rams' 811 eclipsed the previous tournament record set by Lamar in 2005. Also picking up an individual win was freshman Zahkai Brown. Brown now has three top-10 finishes and a tournament title on his collegiate resume after competing in only three tournaments. After tying the school record for lowest round (63) Thursday, shot 4-under-par Friday to finish with rounds of 66-63-67 and a total of 196 (-17). Head Coach Jamie Bermel shared his comments on the win. "Anytime you win as an individual you're playing good, but to win by 8 strokes is something. I walked all 54 holes with him he definitely didn't play like a freshman, that's for sure." CSU had three other golfers finish in the top-10. Dustin Morris continues to swing a hot club. He finished tied for second, carding 66-69-69=204 for his highest finish of the season. Bryce Hanstad shot a 69 in his final round to finish with a 206 and place fourth. Zen Brown had his best finish of the year. He shot an even-par 71 in his final round to finish 5-under-par with a share of sixth place. Riley Arp tied for 19th - his third top-20 performance of the year - with an even-par three-round total of 213. The Rams will return to action Monday and Tuesday at the Sycuan Collegiate invitational - hosted by San Diego State University - at the Willow Glen Golf Course of the Sycuan Resort in El Cajon, Calif. Bermel hopes the team can continue their stellar play. "We've never played at this course so it'll be a new experience," he said, "But we have a lot of momentum so I hope we play well."
