Colorado State is in second place after the first two rounds of the Distrcit 7 Shoot-out, held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Two Rams are in the top-20 at the Angel Park Golf Course - Mountain Course, a par-71, 6,722-yard course.
Freshman Dustin Morris helped to lead the Rams to their second-place lead. Colorado is 10 strokes behind team leader San Diego State. The Aztecs carded rounds of 279-271 for a two-round 550 total to lead the fifteen team field. Morris is in fifteenth place after carding two straight sub-par rounds. Morris carded rounds of 70-69 to earn a 139 two-round total.
Zen Brown is one stroke behind Morris, and is tied for 16th. Brown carded rounds of 71-69 for a 140 two-round total. Aaron Weston and Bryce Hanstad are tied for 21st. Weston posted rounds of 70-71, and Hanstad posted rounds of 72-69. Derrick Whiting is tied for 31st after recording rounds of 73-70 for a two-round 143.
Troy Merrit, of Boise State, is the individual leader and leads 87 competitors. Merrit carded a first-round 69, and earned an unprecedented 62 in the second round, to achieve a 131 two-round total.
Colorado State is looking to earn their fourth-straight top-10 finish . Zen Brown is trying to earn his fourth-straight top-20 finish.
