Day 2 Results
MACON, Georgia- The Rams in their second day at the Brickyard Collegiate completed play in a tie for seventh with a team score of 293, an identical score to yesterday’s action, and giving them a two-day total of 586. Sophomore Cameron Harrell, who began the day in a tie for second overall, shot a 76 (+4) to drop to a share of 20th place.
Senior Kory Harrell shrugged of an average day yesterday to shoot a 70 (-2), giving him a two day total of 146, good for a tie in 25th place. Junior Parker Edens had a one-stroke improvement, carding a 73 (+1) compared to yesterday’s 74 (+2).
The Brickyard at Riverside Golf Club has provided some challenges for the Rams, particularly the front five holes. However, if the Rams can get through these holes, they may set themselves up for an interesting finale.
“One through five is the hardest part of the course,” said Head Coach Christian Newton. “A good start tomorrow could give us the confidence needed to play the rest of the day. I still feel we haven’t scratched the surface of what we are capable of doing on this course.”
Kirby Pettitt was also able to make a one-stroke upgrade, firing a 74 (+2), giving the senior a two-day total of 149. Freshman Jordan Wetsch carded a 78 (+6), resulting in a 36-hole total of 153.
Georgia (568) began the day where they started, in first place and is the only team currently under par (-1). Virginia Tech (577) jumped four spots from sixth to second, with Georgia Tech (579) moving from fifth to third. North Florida (582) moved back to fourth place, followed by Princeton (583), Oklahoma (585), Mercer (586), Kansas (587) and Augusta State (589). Chattanooga and Georgia State are currently tied in 11th (590), with College of Charleston (597), South Florida (600) and Air Force (611) rounding out the action.
