PALM DESERT, Calif. - The 2008-09 season is already shaping up nicely for the Colorado State men's golf team. The Rams held on to their lead in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Sunday morning to claim their second team title in just three tournaments this young season.

Head Coach Jamie Bermel is very pleased with the quick start. "We have four guys with a lot of experience. Those guys need to perform well and they have so far. We just need a fifth, but it's been working out so far."

Zahkai Brown may be that fifth golfer. Seeing his first official action for CSU this weekend, Brown finished tied for eighth place in the 100 player tournament with his brother Zen, both shooting three-round totals of 220.

Dustin Morris led the team once again. He finished in a tie for fourth with a 217 after a season-low-tying round of 67 on Sunday.

Bryce Hanstad, who came into the day leading the Rams, slipped down to finish in a tie for 30th with a three-round total of 227.

Riley Arp shot a 76 to match his earlier round scores and place 35th.

Justin Spray finished 50th, the highest of any of the competing individuals, with a 232.

The Rams will compete next on Oct. 16-17 at the Del Walker Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif. Coach Bermel is looking forward the next tournament. "We won at Long Beach last year and we're playing on the same course, so I think the guys are going in pretty confident."
