Colorado State finished second in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at Colorado Springs, Colo., hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy. The Rams carded rounds of 286-280-288 for an 854 three-round total. Two Ram golfers tied for fourth place at the Eisenhower Golf Club--Blue Course, a 7,301-yard, par-72 course.
Zen Brown and Dustin Morris both carded three-round totals of 211. Morris carded rounds of 72-70-69 in his first collegiate tournament. Brown carded rounds of 74-68-69 to earn him his second top-5 finish of his career.
Colorado State earned their twelfth-straight regular season top-10 finish. The last time they earned second place was Feb. 7, 2006 at the Rice Intercollegiate. There they earned an 894 three-round total.
Colorado State was nine strokes shy of Xavier University who broke the tournament record with a three-round 845 team total. The previous tournament record was 854. Xavier carded rounds of 286-286-273. Jason Kokrak led Xavier and won the individual title with a 204 three-round total. Kokrak carded rounds of 70-69-65. He also broke a Falcon tournament record. The previous individual three-round low was 206.
Derrick Whiting finished in 45th place after carding rounds of 71-72-78 for a three-round 221. Aaron Weston and Riley Arp finished tied for 54th place with a three-round 223 total.
Colorado State will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the Tucker Intercollegiate Sept. 22-23.
