PROVO, Utah- The Rams, after 36 holes, currently sit in 5th place after shooting a 580 (+5) in its first two rounds. Colorado State began the day with a 287, but slipped in the second round, posting a 293.
Head Coach Christian Newton felt that his team should have taken advantage of the golf course.
“The course couldn’t set up any better for us,” said Coach Newton. “We simply couldn’t get the job done today.”
Sophomore Cameron Harrell was the most stellar of the Rams, as his first round 69 (-3) was followed by a second round 71 (-1). Harrell’s eight birdies were tied for the lead amongst the team, and now sits in 4th place.
Senior Kirby Pettitt recorded an even-par 72 in the first round, but followed with a 74 (+2) in his second round. Pettitt recorded seven birdies himself, and now is tied for 19th place.
Junior Parker Edens could not quite find his stroke, as his first round 73 (+1) and his second round 74 (+2) gives him a total of 147 (+3), good for a share of 23rd. Senior Kory Harrell is in a tie of 31st with a two-round score of 148 (+4).
Host team 39 BYU finished its two-rounds with a team score of 555 (-21), and now sits in the lead. BYU is followed by 123 Air Force (567), 24 St. Mary’s (573), 178 Boise State (578), 69 Colorado State (580), 147 Southern Utah (586), 174 Wyoming (586), 200 Utah State (591) and 193 Weber State (593).
