OAHU, Hawaii- Colorado State finished its first tournament of the spring season with an eighth place finish at the 37th annual John A. Burns Intercollegiate at Turtle Bay Resort.  The Rams collectively shot a 309 (+21) in their final 18 holes, giving the team a three-day total of 905 (+41).

Head Coach Christian Newton knows that his team of capable of playing better, but he expects to see his squad bounce back.

“The last two rounds were pretty disappointing,” said Newton.  “We’re just going to try to put this behind us, and ten days from now we get ready to go to Fresno we have to get ready for that, get in the right frame of mind to go there and put our best foot forward.”

Freshman Jordan Wetsch was able to put together a solid 76 (+4), while recording six birdies, five of which were on the front nine holes.  Wetsch finished the event with a three-round total of 228 (+12), good for a share of 37th.

“I started off the round pretty poor with a quad and a double and was frustrated with my play the previous two rounds of the tournament,” said Wetsch.  “So after the rough start I just decided to enjoy the surroundings and forget about the score.”

Junior Parker Edens was unable to continue his play from yesterday and recorded a 77 (+5) in his final round.  Edens ended play tied in 33rd place with a final score of 227 (+11).  Sophomore Cameron Harrell matched Edens’ score with a 77 (+5) of his own, and carded a three-day tally of 226 (+10).  Harrell was consistent, however, as he pared 13 of the 18 holes he played.

Kirby Pettitt had his worst round of his three, posting a 79 (+7) on the day, giving him a three-day score of 228 (+12).  Pettitt finished with teammate Jordan Wetsch in 37th place.  Freshman Dominic Kieffer completed play with an 85 (+13) and ended his tournament 67th
