LIHU’E, Hawai’i – Inclement weather on Kaua’i forced the cancellation of the third round of action at the 2014 John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Friday, as the Colorado State men’s golf team finished the tournament in a tie for 11th place in the 17-team field.

“I was very disappointed that we weren't able to play today,” said head coach Christian Newton. “I felt that the guys were motivated to all play well and make a move up the leaderboard.”

Rams’ senior Parker Edens, a native of Greeley, Colo., paced the Rams with a two-round score of 145 (+1). He finished in a tie for 23rd, two strokes ahead of junior Cameron Harrell, who tied for 35th at 3-over par.

Junior Patrick Winther (73-76—149) and sophomore Dominic Kieffer (77-73—150), finished tied for 48th and 56th respectively. Freshman Jimmy Makloski closed the 36-hole competition in a tie for 64th, while classmate Alec Bone, competing as an individual, posted a 10-over 154 to finish tied for 77th in the 90-player field.

Cal took home the team title with a two-round score of 560 (-16), while BYU's Justin Keiley claimed medalist honors. Keiley finished at 10-under (68-66--134).

“It's a tough lesson to learn but this happens,” added Newton. “All we can do now is get ready to play our next event.”

The Rams return to the links March 3-4, competing at the Del Walker Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif.
