COLORADO SPRINGS – On Monday morning the Mountain West awarded running back Kapri Bibbs with Offensive Player of the Week and kicker Jared Roberts with Special Teams Player of the Week after Saturday’s 38-17 victory against Nevada.
Bibbs, a native of Plainfield, Ill., broke a 24-year old Colorado State record when he rushed for 312 yards on 30 carries (10.4 avg.) and four touchdowns, which tied a program best. The previous single-game rushing record was held by Tony Alford since 1989. Alford rushed for 310 yards on 28 attempts at Utah on Oct. 28 of that year.
In only his fourth career start, Bibbs rushed for the second-most yards among FBS rushers in 2013, and the most by a running back nationally. Northern Illinois’ QB Jordan Lynch rushed for 316 yards on Oct. 19 at Central Michigan.
Additionally, Bibbs became the second player in Mountain West history to top the 300-yard rushing mark in a single game.
Bibbs also hauled in one reception for two yards, giving him 314 all-purpose yards on Saturday, the most by a Mountain West player this year, and the seventh-most nationally.
Roberts was a perfect three-for-three connecting on field goals of 20, 23 and 46 yards, tying a career-best for most field goals made in a single game. The native of Littleton, Colo., was also a perfect on three PAT attempts, finishing the game with 12 points.
On Saturday, Roberts became the most accurate kicker (minimum 25 attempts) in CSU history. He has connected on 24-of-27 attempts (.889), a percentage which also ranks No. 2 among all active FBS kickers.
This is Bibbs’ first Mountain West weekly accolade and Roberts’ third. Roberts earned the weekly honor after his first career game vs. Colorado and later in the season after the Rams’ victory over UNLV. On Sunday, Bibbs was named Walter Camp Foundation Offensive Player of the Week.
