Tight end Kory Sperry sustained a season-ending knee injury Saturday

Sept. 11, 2007

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State Head Coach Sonny Lubick announced Tuesday morning that results of tight end Kory Sperry's magnetic resonance imaging test have confirmed a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The injury ends Sperry's season.

Sperry, a 6-foot-6, 260-pound senior from Vineland, Colo., sustained the injury in the first half of Saturday's 34-28 loss to Cal, now the No. 8 team in the nation. In a nearly successful upset effort, the Rams scored 21 points after losing Sperry.

In Week 1 at Colorado, Sperry caught a career-high three TDs to earn the John Mackey award as the national tight end of the week.

A true senior who has not used a redshirt season, Sperry is eligible to petition the NCAA for a medical hardship waiver should he decide to continue his collegiate career next season. Surgery has yet to be scheduled.
