FORT COLLINS- Colo. – Head Coach Steve Fairchild was pleased with how the team practiced Tuesday morning, noting that the team has had two consecutive productive days.
The quarterbacks looked better, according to Fairchild, who was disappointed in their play last weekend.
“Better couple days,” Fairchild said. “It’s hard not to have a couple better days after Saturday’s scrimmage. We will just keep coaching them hard and our expectation level will never change around here as far as quarterback play.”
The Rams practiced third-down conversions and coming out of their own end zone, situations that they are likely to see during games.
“We did some backed up work where we were coming out on the 2-yard line; we did some short- yardage work so we got a lot done today,” Fairchild said.
Big plays: During the live tackling portion of practice, running back Leonard Mason reeled off a 15-yard run to get things started for the offense. Then, defensive back DeAngelo Wilkinson made an athletic play, snagging an interception near the sidelines.
Safety Klint Kubiak made a diving interception during 11-on-11 that drew the applause of teammates. Kubiak celebrated by spinning the ball on the ground.
Earlier, Alex Square made a one-handed catch along the sideline.
Punter: Pete Kontodiakos impressed onlookers when he boomed two punts over 60 yards out of the Rams’ end zone during special teams practice.
