FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State held its fourth practice of Fall Camp on Thursday with players practicing both outside and in the indoor practice facility due to lighting in the area.
"We have learned to adjust to the smaller space," Head Coach Jim McElwain said, referring to the players being forced indoors. "We have to just cut some things and be able to re-pick it back up when we can return outside."
McElwain had high praise for the offensive line after practice. The unit has improved its communication and overall performance through the first four practices.
"I thought the linemen came out sprinting, we are going to be OK, and now we are adding four new running backs to the mix and those guys are now starting to get a feel for how things go."
The third-year head coach admits it's going to be difficult to replace 2013 Walter Camp All-American Kapri Bibbs, but he spoke highly of the talent the Rams will have in the backfield in 2014.
"We are very strong," McElwain said of the running back corps. "I think right now we have five guys that give us an opportunity to be successful."
Jasen Oden Jr., a defensive back in 2013 that moved to the other side of the ball in spring, received recognition for his improvement over the first four practices of Fall Camp.
"He is a guy that in these first four days has really shown some good things," McElwain said
The Rams will continue with camp on Friday with a 4 p.m. practice, which will be the first day in full pads for the team. On Saturday will be Colorado State's first of six two-a-days starting at 9:30 a.m.
