FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State senior quarterback Garrett Grayson suffered an injury to an upper extremity on the left (non-throwing) side on Friday.
Grayson, the Mountain West’s returning passing leader from 2013, was treated surgically by team physicians on Friday afternoon and is anticipated to return by the Rams’ summer strength and conditioning workouts.
“Garrett injured his clavicle this morning while moving a couch,” Head Coach Jim McElwain said. “The good news is that it is on his non-throwing side, and he’ll be back in action by the time we start our summer strength and conditioning program in June.”
In 2013, Grayson set the CSU single-season record passing for 3,696 yards and tied the school record with 23 touchdown passes while leading the Rams to an 8-6 record and a victory in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.
The native of Vancouver, Wash., needs to throw for 1,959 yards to become the school’s all-time leading passer. With 159 completions and 20 touchdown passes next season, he will hold the CSU career records in those categories.
In March, Grayson accepted an invitation to the Manning Passing Academy, one of the most prestigious football camps in the nation. The camp is scheduled to begin July 10th.
