Rams Superstars Competition

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Hey, CSU students. Think you have the speed to beat the three fastest players on your school's football team?

Well, Head Coach Steve Fairchild is inviting you to prove it at Friday's Rams Superstars Competition inside Moby Arena. If one student can win the contest, called Beat the Elite, that person gets an exclusive honorary roster spot during the week of the Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain Showdown this September, when the Rams travel to Invesco Field to meet archrival Colorado.

CSU officials will select one student and pit that person in a single race against wide receivers Tony Drake and Thomas Coffman, and cornerback Bernard Blake, all of whom own speed below 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

And if that one student can beat all three players at Moby Arena, that individual will spend a week as an honorary member of the team, attending practices and assorted team meetings, and staying with the Rams at their team hotel. On gameday, Sept. 17, the winner will not only receive free admission, but also stand on the Rams' sideline in an authentic jersey after walking out onto the field for the pregame coin toss with the CSU captains.

To be clear, this is not an official tryout for the team. The winner will not wear pads during the week or at the game, or participate in any practice drills. The prize is only an honorary roster spot for that week, and does not count toward the number allowed by the NCAA.

Preliminary competition
To find the fastest student on campus and determine the one that will compete against Drake, Coffman and Blake, CSU officials will conduct a preliminary contest prior to the event on Friday. The Superstars Competition begins at 6 p.m. (admission and parking are free).

Students interested in competing should arrive at the main football practice facility south of Moby Arena three hours before, at 3 p.m. Friday, to show their speed at preliminaries.

All contestants must present a valid CSU student ID and sign a liability waiver. All students are encouraged to stretch on their own, to avoid injury, and should bring their own footwear. Tennis shoes will work well for the preliminaries on the FieldTurf artificial surface, as well as the Moby Arena floor.

There is no fee to compete.
