Space still available for CSU coaches clinic with Bobby Bowden
April 17, 2010 Clinic brochure, registration and schedule By Zak Gilbert FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Space is still available for this week’s CSU coaches clinic, headlined by legendary coach Bobby Bowden. Bowden, who ranks second all-time in coaching wins behind Penn State’s Joe Paterno, will speak at the Friday-Saturday clinic at the McGraw Athletic Center on the CSU campus. The clinic is open to coaches at any level who would like to hear Bowden’s presentation and meet the Hall of Famer, who is not on a sideline for the first time in 56 years this spring. Last season, those who attended the CSU clinic received instruction from NFL head coach Gary Kubiak of the Houston Texans. Two members of the CSU staff, recruiting coordinator Todd Stroud and offensive coordinator Pat Meyer, worked under Bowden at Florida State. Stroud also started for Bowden’s Seminoles from 1983-85. Countless other coaches, including Bowden’s three sons (each of which achieved an undefeated season), and Georgia’s Mark Richt, have gone on to outstanding careers as college head coaches after learning from Bowden. In addition to Bowden, the CSU clinic also features two Colorado high-school coaches from 2009 state championship teams, head coach Brent Vieselmeyer from the 14-0 3A champion, Valor Christian, and Det Betti, offensive line coach on the staff of the 14-0 5A champion, Mullen. What’s more, John Wristen (head coach, CSU-Pueblo), Payam Saadat (co-defensive coordinator, Army) and breakout sessions with Fairchild and the Rams staff highlight the clinic.
The clinic will feature a bevy of activities, including chalk talks with staff and on-field access to the CSU spring game on Saturday. The clinic will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, and feature a full day of activities. The cost for the clinic is only $75, while those wishing to attend for the purposes of continuing education can earn one credit for an additional $72. For more information, or to register for the event, interested coaches should call CSU's football office at 970/491-6131, or Tom Ehlers, director of football operations, at 970/491-5092. |
