Signing Day storylines...
- Head Coach Steve Fairchild is introducing Wednesday officially his third signing class, but the second in which he and his staff have had a full calendar year to recruit and sign.
- CSU's 2010 class covers the entire continent, from Snohomish, Wash., near the Canadian border in the Pacific Northwest, to Weston, Fla, on the southern tip of the Florida peninsula -- a 3,316-mile drive that would take nearly 50 hours.
- Three of the Rams' signees were ranked by Rivals.com in the nation's top 25 at their respective positions. All three chose the Rams over prominent BCS programs.
- The 2010 class is the highest-ranked group since Rivals began ranking team classes in the early 21st century.
- The Rams have signed 28 players, believed to be a school record. The most they'd signed previously was 25, in both 2002 and 2008.
- For the first time since 1986, CSU did not sign at least one junior-college player. The Rams have averaged between 1-2 JC signees over the previous 23 classes.
- Among brothers, cousins, fathers and uncles of players signed by the Rams are three first-round selections in NFL drafts, including reigning Offensive Player of the Year Chris Johnson. In all, the class totals 10 relatives who play or played in the NFL, one of which has three Super Bowl rings.
- CSU's 11 players from Florida and its eight from Texas are its most ever from the respective states.
- At last check, CSU was tied for No. 1 in the nation in Florida signings (excluding the in-state schools). The Rams were expected to sign as many players as the Florida State Seminoles from the Sunshine State.
- The eight Lone Star State signees are the most signed by CSU in a single class from any state other than California and Colorado, and the 11 from Florida in 2010.
