Coaching Accomplishments
• Colorado State's defensive unit has annually ranked among the conference leaders in fewest yards allowed per game.
• Defensive end Patrick Goodpaster ranked among the conference leaders in quarterback sacks in 2003.
• Defensive end Peter Hogan was named first-team all-conference in 2002 and was a preseason nominee for the Outland Trophy as the nation's top defensive lineman.
• In 2001, Lucas Smith was named second-team all-conference. A year prior, Hogan was named second-team all-conference as one of the league's premier defensive ends. Tackles Jamie Bennett and Mike Mackenzie received honorable mention. Each player started every game in 2000.
• Williams came to Colorado State after spending one season, 1998, as special teams and defensive ends coach at San Jose State.
• Formerly coached at Holy Cross College (1996) as defensive line and special teams coach.
• From 1995-96 was a member of the staff at Eastern Washington, coaching defensive line and special teams, and serving as recruiting coordinator.
• Served as defensive line coach from 1992-95 at Portland State, and 1988-92 at Sonoma State.

Prominent Players Coached
• Defensive end Andre Sommersell was drafted in the seventh round by the NFL's Oakland Raiders in 2004.
• Sommersell and Goodpaster were both honorable mention all-conference in 2003.
• Hogan was named first-team all-conference in 2002 and was a preseason nominee for the Outland Trophy as the nation's top defensive lineman.
• Tutored defensive end Clark Haggans, a first-team all-conference performer in 1999 who is now playing professionally for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
• Haggans set the school's career record for quarterback sacks, 34.
• The Rams had 31 quarterback sacks in 1999, tying for the 10th highest season total in school history.
