High School: A three-year letterman and three-year starter at Angleton High School, just south of Houston, anchored the line on an offense powered by a dominating run game...Was a Houston Chronicle Top 100 selection after his senior season...Helped the Wildcats advance to the third round of the Texas state playoffs each season after consecutive District 24 championships and Region III runner-up finishes (2008-09)...A first-team all-district, all-county and honorable-mention Class 4A all-state selection for a 7-4 team as a senior, blocked for a pair of 1,000-yard rushers and an offense that piled up more than 30 rushing TDs and nearly 3,000 total rushing yards...Was expected to be one of two Division I signees from his class, which included a DB headed for Texas...After playing exclusively as an interior lineman since seventh grade, played every position on his offensive front as a versatile senior, always facing off with the opposition's best defensive lineman, most of whom had committed to Division I programs...High school program has produced several NFL players, including Quentin Jammer...As a junior in 2009, paved the road for two more 1,000-yard ball-carriers on an offense that put up outrageous rushing numbers (4,210 yards, 48 touchdowns) as AHS finished 11-2...Started four games for the Wildcats as a sophomore...Voted team captain for two seasons...Head football coach was Finis Vanover...Also lettered two years in powerlifting for his school...Was among the top 20 percent of his class, with a 3.1 GPA...Had 5.1-second speed in the 40-yard dash and benched 385 pounds...Also recruited by Missouri, Texas, Texas Tech, Okla. State, Stanford, Baylor, Iowa State, Purdue, TCU, Rice, Tulsa, North Texas, Louisiana Tech and others.
