High School: A stalwart boulder in the middle of a 3-4 defense at Lamar County High School, southeast of Atlanta, twice earned all-region honors during his career as a three-year starter...Compiled 10 sacks and recovered five fumbles at the varsity level, as a nose guard...Started as an offensive guard and tackle during his sophomore campaign, before playing exclusively on defense over the balance of his career...As a senior in 2011, led LCHS, one of the oldest programs in Georgia, to its best record in school history, a 12-1 mark complete with a Region 4 crown, punctuated by a trip to the Elite Eight of the Georgia Class AA state playoffs...Filled trophy case with the 2011 Region 4 Defensive Player of the Year and team MVP honors, in addition to an all-state selection and a trip to the state's North vs. South All-Star Classic in Columbus...A relentless force on the Trojans' line, ranked second on the team with 58 tackles, along with three sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and three pass deflections...Helped the Trojans to a runner-up finish in their region as both a sophomore and junior...Garnered all-region recognition as a junior in 2010, when he posted five sacks among a team-leading 72 tackles; also recovered three fumbles and forced another...Had a pair of sacks as a sophomore in his first year as a starter, along with 51 tackles...Played one varsity game as a freshman...The No. 1 discus thrower in his region as a sophomore and junior, with a personal best of 157 feet, also lettered three years in track; placed seventh in the discus at the 2010 state meet, and also threw the shot during high school...Head football coach was Jason Strickland...Owned a 5.0 time in the 40-yard dash, and bench pressed 325 pounds.
