Game Action

2011 (Sophomore): A key cog in the CSU defense, played in all 12 games, with 11 starts...A third-team all-conference choice (Phil Steele), finished ninth in the conference with 7.2 tackles per game...Ranked third on the team with 87 tackles (49 solo), including three tackles for loss...Also broke up a pass and picked off another...Made his first career appearance in the starting lineup in season-opening win at New Mexico (Sept. 3), and on CSU's first 2011 snap, threw QB Tarean Austin for a 3-yard loss; later in first quarter, blew up a screen for a 7-yard loss and UNM missed a field goal three plays later...In home-opening win over Northern Colorado (Sept. 10), had a team-leading 10 total tackles, a career best...With a tip of his cap to fellow LB Mychal Sisson and former LB Austin Gillmore, both of whom sustained serious injuries in UNC contest, wore each player's jersey during practice leading up to the Denver loss vs. Colorado (Sept. 17)...In fourth quarter of exhilarating win at Utah State (Sept. 24), dropped a USU back for a 2-yard loss in a 14-13 game, and shortly after helped the Rams preserve a 35-34 triumph in double overtime by preventing a two-point conversion...Early in second quarter of loss vs. No. 5 Boise State (Oct. 15), lost his helmet on a play and sustained a blow to the head in the pileup; left the game with and did not return...Passed concussion tests and returned to starting lineup at UTEP (Oct. 22) ...In windy, 18-15 loss vs. San Diego State (Nov. 12), registered his first career interception, picking off all-time Mountain West passing leader Ryan Lindley at the Aztecs' 41-yard line to end the first SDSU possession with the Rams holding an early 7-0 advantage; later in the quarter, broke up another Lindley pass...In loss at No. 19 TCU (Nov. 19), hurried QB Casey Pachall to force a first-quarter incompletion...Did not start loss vs. Air Force (Nov. 26) as CSU opened in 3-4 alignment; played several snaps as an inside linebacker...In season finale vs. Wyoming (Dec. 3), diagnosed a run and stopped Alvester Alexander for no gain in the fourth quarter.

2010 (Freshman): A grayshirt that enrolled in January, went through spring ball as a safety with the Rams but shifted positions before fall camp and played a significant role in the CSU defense as a true freshman linebacker...Played in all 12 games as a reserve, totaling 37 tackles (21 solo), two sacks and 2½ tackles for loss; also forced a fumble, broke up a pass, and delivered one of the most memorable hits in CSU history, against UNLV...The Rams' fourth linebacker in their `Dollar' 3-4 package, also saw playing time as a reserve in the base defense...Made his college debut in season opener, vs. Colorado (Sept. 4) at Invesco Field, and posted three tackles...Registered his first career sack in Buffs contest, killing a first-quarter drive nearing FG position by dropping Tyler Hansen for a 13-yard loss on third down...Delivered the hit of the night at Nevada (Sept. 11), a crushing blow on a sweep...At Miami-Ohio (Sept. 18), came out of nowhere to bat down a Zac Dysert pass late in the first half, then dropped a RedHawks punt returner for zero yards in the third quarter...In loss at No. 25 Air Force (Oct. 9), led the team with six tackles...Late in first half of 43-10 win vs. UNLV (Oct. 16), with the Rebels facing a third down at the Rams' 3-yard line, lowered his center of gravity and delivered one of the most memorable hits in CSU history, the force of which drove RB Tim Cornett's helmet back 5 yards to vault the play onto SportsCenter highlights; later in the game, forced a fourth-quarter fumble that was recovered by teammate Crockett Gillmore...At No. 9 Utah (Oct. 23), his pressure forced a third-down incompletion and the Utes had to settle for a second-quarter field goal...In 38-14 win vs. New Mexico (Oct. 30), flushed the QB out of the pocket and hurried him into an incompletion to help snuff out a drive late in the first half...At Wyoming (Nov. 20), combined with Shaq Bell on a first-quarter completion to hold Alvester Alexander to no gain on fourth-and-1, giving the Rams possession at their own 34; then, in the fourth quarter, sacked Austyn Carta-Samuels on third-and-long, pinning the Cowboys at their own 3 after a 12-yard loss, forcing a punt.

High School: A first-team all-District 21-4A selection as a safety at Westbury High School in Houston, led his team in tackles as both a senior and a junior from 2007-08...As a senior, made 88 tackles, three interceptions -- one of which he returned for a touchdown -- and two sacks, leading the Rebels to an 8-2 record and the second round of the 4A playoffs in Texas...Had a 24-yard run on a fake punt against Sharpstown...Named all-district as a junior at linebacker after registering 92 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions...Was listed by MaxPresps.com as one of the top 20 linebackers in Texas...A team captain as a senior...Head coach was Keeath Magee, who described him as a true leader on and off the field...Selected to participate in the National Down Under Bowl...Also recruited by Oklahoma State, Houston, Boise State, New Mexico, Central Arkansas and Prairie View.
