High School: A four-year starter, played defensive tackle, defensive end, center, tight end and fullback at Jefferson High School on the East Texas plains...The school, in a city with a population less than 2,000, has already produced three NFL players: Montrae Holland (Florida State, New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys), Rafael Robinson (Wisconsin, Seattle Seahawks, Houston/Tennessee Oilers) and Bobbie Williams (Arkansas, Cincinnati Bengals), as well as CSU's cornerbacks coach Tim Duffie, who played at Texas Tech and recruited Murphy...As a defensive lineman, earned first-team all-district recognition three consecutive years, and second-team honors as a freshman...Also received second-team all-state honors (Associated Press) as a senior, and honorable-mention all-state and second-team all-East Texas accolades as a junior...Earned first-team all-district recognition as a center in both 2008 and '09...In 2009, earned second-team all-Texas as a center from Smoaky.com, which ranks the top Lone Star State prospects from more than 140 teams across Classes 1A-5A, and first-team all-Harrison and Marion County as both a center and defensive tackle...Racked up 256 total tackles, 46 behind the line of scrimmage, 13 sacks and 10 fumble recoveries during a decorated career, helping JHS advance to the second round of the state playoffs three times...A captain in 2009, had a career-best 80 tackles, including 12 for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries...In 2008, earned Defensive Player of the Year honors on the all-county team after recording 66 tackles, 14 for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a blocked kick; also scored a touchdown as a tight end...Helped JHS to a 9-2 record as a sophomore, with 57 stops, including 11 for loss, three sacks, eight hurries and three fumble recoveries, in addition to his lone touchdown, as a fullback...Notched 53 tackles, nine for loss, two sacks and four fumble recoveries as a freshman in 2006...Also will letter four years in baseball, as a catcher, earning District Newcomer of the Year honors as a freshman and first-team all-district recognition as a sophomore and junior, entering his final season...Will compete on the Bulldogs golf team as a senior...Participated in National Honor Society and student council, and served as president of the JHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes as a junior and senior...Owns a 3.8 GPA and has impressive 4.85 speed in the 40-yard dash...Also recruited by Stanford and Sam Houston State.
