High School/Prep School: A 2011 graduate of Fossil Ridge High School, eight miles from CSU's McGraw Athletic Center, signed a financial-aid agreement Dec. 6, 2011, and enrolled in time for January 2012 classes and will practice with the Rams this spring...Kept his skills sharp during the fall of 2011 at Jireh Prep School in Monroe, N.C.; started seven games against stiff competition from Georgia, Virginia and Carolina prep schools, including prominent Hargrave Military Academy, and Division III JV teams...Started seven games on an 8-3 team, throwing for more than 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns...Still entered CSU with five available years to play four, per NCAA rules...Played just one varsity season at FRHS, his 2010 senior campaign, and led Colorado's largest classification, 5A, in both passing yards (2,558) and passing TD (26)...A first-team all-Front Range League and honorable-mention all-state selection, was the team MVP and captain on a 4-6 team in its first season of 5A competition...Hit 198-of-374 passes (.529), including an 88-yard play, with 12 interceptions, in addition to 252 yards on 84 carries...Also caught a TD pass against Thomas Jefferson...Did not play during his sophomore or junior seasons due to a knee injury...Started for the freshman team as a ninth grader...Owned 4.7 speed in the 40-yard dash as a high-school QB...Also bench pressed 265 pounds and carried a 3.0 GPA...Head FRHS football coaches were Steve Vecchio and Clint Fick Personal: Given name Craig Connett Leonard Jr. ...Born Sept. 8, 1992, in Everett, Wash. ...Parents are Craig and Nanette Leonard...The youngest of four children, has two older brothers and one older sister...Moved to Fort Collins at age 8, but grew up in Snohomish, Wash., hometown of CSU teammate John Froland, but did not meet Froland until the two were on the CSU campus (the players know many of the same people)...Major at CSU is undeclared...Hometown: Fort Collins, Colo. |
