Higgins earns first team All-MW, All-America honors
2015 (Senior): Appeared in all 12 games and started five, playing a key role in the Rams' interior run-stuffing efforts...recorded eight tackles (4 solo), including one tackle for loss.
2014 (Junior): Played in all 13 games, starting 11...recorded 28 tackles (13 solo), including one tackle for loss, and one quarterback hurry.
- Career-high five tackles and first career tackle for loss vs. Hawai’i (Nov. 8).
- Four tackles in the Rams’ regular-season finale at Air Force (Nov. 28).
2013 (Sophomore): Made appearances in six games for the Rams, registering three tackles...used in a package in goal-line situations.
- Made his first collegiate tackle vs. UTEP (Sept. 28), when he combined with Joe Kawulok to stop Miners running back Aaron Jones at the line of scrimmage.
- Registered his first career solo stop at Wyoming (Oct. 19) late in the fourth quarter with the Rams up 52-22.
2012 (Freshman): Did not play; spent season as a varsity reserve.
2011 (Redshirt): Redshirted as a true freshman in his first season of college eligibility.
High School: A four-year letterman and three-year starter - including 2009 and `10 on both sides of the ball - helped control the line of scrimmage at Longmont High School, a notable factory for Division I and NFL offensive linemen just 45 minutes south of Fort Collins...Rated the state’s 11th-best overall prospect by Rivals.com...Received first-team Class 4A all-state honors as a senior, and nailed down a spot on the Denver Post’s All-Colorado team, the state’s best 31 players regardless of classification...A first-team all-Northern Conference selection for three consecutive years (2008-10), also garnered first-team all-area recognition from the Longmont Times-Call (2009 and `10), and first-team all-region honors from the Boulder Daily Camera (2009 and `10)...Was his team’s Offensive Lineman of the Year as a team captain in 2010...Began his starting streak in 2007, drawing his initial career nod as a freshman in the first round of the state playoffs, the only year in which his team didn’t advance at least to the quarterfinals of the postseason...An honorable-mention all-state selection as a junior in 2009, helped the Trojans to a berth in the 4A state championship game...Had 55 tackles and five sacks as a defensive lineman in 2009 as the 11-3 Trojans rocketed through the playoffs before falling to Heritage at Invesco Field...The anchor of the LHS line, blocked for a 2009 offense that rushed for 3,031 yards with 40 TDs...In his first year as a starter, playing primarily on defense, helped the Trojans to a 10-2 record and an appearance in the 2008 state quarterfinals, picking up first-team all-Northern Conference accolades...Head football coach was Doug Johnson...Also appeared on the rosters of the Trojans’ basketball, track and wrestling teams...Threw the shot and discus as an all-conference track athlete, earning sixth at state in 2010...Battled at the state wrestling championship after signing his CSU letter of intent...Had a 3.2 GPA and remarkable speed (4.88 seconds) for a lineman...Max bench press in high school was 345 pounds...Also recruited by San Diego State, Washington, Colorado, Kansas State, Utah, UCLA and Michigan.
