2012 Signing Class Highlights

2012 Signing Class Highlights; 24 players

High School: An intriguing story, did not play football of any kind, not even Pop Warner, until his junior season; did not touch a football until his first career receptions as a senior...In a summer workout prior to his junior year, a Bellaire High School football coach invited him to play and, after years of pleading from friend Melvin McAdams, finally agreed to take a risk and suit up...At the time, inspired by his older brother in the NBA, had invested all his efforts into earning a basketball scholarship offer, but after one year of football, received much more attention from colleges in that sport than he had as a hoops player...Despite not catching a pass, garnered second-team all-district honors in his first year as a tight end, 2010, due primarily to his physical and sound blocking ability on an offense that averaged 153.5 rushing yards per game; helped the 7-4 Cardinals to a playoff berth and just their third season of six-or-more wins since 1972...Actually began his football career as a junior defensive end, but after one game, permanently moved across the line of scrimmage...Focused on football, attended 2011 football camps at Baylor, SMU, Texas A&M and TCU...Returned as a senior to garner first-team all-district honors, catching five passes for 39 yards, with one TD and a reception on a two-point conversion; helped BHS to a 6-5 mark and another berth in the first round of the Texas 5A playoffs...A four-year letterman and two-year starter as a forward and center on the hardwood, averaged 11 points and eight rebounds per game at the time of his signing...Head football coach was Trey Herrmann...Appeared on the Bellaire honor roll...Has 4.7-second speed in the 40-yard dash...Owns an incredible wingspan, from fingertip to fingertip, of 6-foot-11.

Personal: Given name Brett Anthony Jordan...Son of Kimberly Jordan and step father Frederick Williams...The third child in a family of four boys, has two older brothers and one younger brother...Older brother DeAndre Jordan is a 6-foot-11, starting center for the Los Angeles Clippers, selected in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft after one season at Texas A&M (DeAndre actually was a high-school placekicker as freshman at Lamar High School)...After making a recruiting trip to Fort Collins, attended DeAndre's Jan. 29, 2012, game against the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center, where Chris Paul and Blake Griffin tweeted to millions of followers news of his CSU commitment...Another older brother, Cory, played baseball at San Jacinto College...Younger brother Avery, a sophomore in 2011-12, played basketball with Brett at BHS...Interested in pursuing a career in sports management after his playing days...Hometown: Houston, Texas.
