High School: Played offensive tackle and defensive end as a three-year letterman at Vacaville High School, halfway between Oakland and Sacramento in Northern California...A mauling run blocker, literally led Vacaville and a devastating offense that produced four 1,000-yard rushers and 143 rushing TDs over his final two seasons, 2010 and '11; team combined for a 33-5 record during his three seasons at the varsity level...A two-year starter, did not touch the ball on offense as a high-school player...A first-team all-state lineman and the Offensive Lineman of the Year in both his region (Fairfield Daily Republic) and league (Monticello Empire) as a 2011 senior captain, played a key role in the Bulldogs' Division II state championship...A first-team all-Sac-Joaquin Section lineman and the team's overall MVP, blocked for a pair of 1,000-yard rushers as the team produced 79 TDs on the ground en route to the section and state crowns...As a first-year starter on the defensive side of the ball in 2011, racked up 13 sacks and 69 tackles, as well as five fumble recoveries, one of which clinched a VHS win on its opponent's final drive)...Also forced two fumbles, and in the Bulldogs' 27-19 win over St. Mary's in the second round of the playoffs, deflected a pass to his defensive tackle to end a fourth-quarter threat...As a junior in 2010, started at offensive tackle and helped the Bulldogs to a 10-2 mark and a berth in the second round of the state bracket, paving the path for two 1,000-yard rushers and an offense that ran for 64 touchdowns...Did not start on defense as a junior until the playoffs, and finished with 21 tackles, one sack, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble...In 2009, saw plenty of playing time as a sophomore reserve lineman...Head football coach was Mike Papadopoulos, the California Division II Coach of the Year in 2011...An All-American in wrestling, also lettered four years in that sport, placing fifth at state as a junior...Swept five opponents from all over the country at the Minnesota Clash tournament...Ranked at the time of his signing as the nation's No. 8 wrestler and No. 2 in California, had just pinned his adversary in 31 seconds to win the heavyweight championship of the prestigious 2012 Puma Classic...Owns larger-than-average hands (10 inches)...Improved his time in the 40-yard dash from 5.2 to 4.6 during his high school years...Top bench press in high school was 350...Also carried a 3.0 GPA.
