2011 Football Media Day - Aug. 10

Career Division I games played/started: 37/0 (14/0 in 2013...12/0 in 2012...11/0 in 2011).

2013 (Senior): Saw action in all 14 contests for the Rams, playing mostly on special teams but also lining up in the Rams "heavy" package when near the goal line or needing to pick up a short of two Rams in 2013 to turn his first career catch into a score.

  • On the road at Tulsa (Sept. 7) hauled in his first reception, a 2-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Grayson
  • Registered two tackles on special teams and recovered a fumble at Tulsa (Sept. 7)
  • Chosen to serve as a team captain for game at Wyoming (Oct. 19)

2012 (Junior): A reserve tight end, played in 12 games for Colorado State...was a major contributor to the kickoff and punt units...McKay finished the season with three tackles and a forced fumble.

  • Registered a career-high two tackles in a home victory over UNLV (Nov. 10)
  • At Boise State (Nov. 17), forced a fumble as Broncos Chris Potter attempted to return a punt...the ball was recovered by Colorado State's Shaq Bell and that drive ultimately led to a Rams touchdown
  • Earlier in the contest against the Broncos, returned a short kickoff 11 yards setting up the Rams at their own 32-yardline

2011 (Sophomore): A reserve fullback, played in 11 games...Registered four tackles on special teams, as well as a forced fumble, and blocked a punt...Made his college debut in the home opener vs. Northern Colorado (Sept. 10), pressed into service after the team lost Austin Gillmore and Jake Levin...Earned a role on special teams and, in second quarter of Denver loss vs. Colorado (Sept. 17), blocked CSU's first punt since Sept. 16, 2006, but the punt bounced off a teammate and into the hands of the Buffs; earlier, on CSU's kickoff after a first-quarter TD, launched himself through the wedge to drop KR Kyle Washington...Earned special teams player of the game honors from coaches for his efforts against the Buffs...In loss vs. No. 5 Boise State (Oct. 15), on a Broncos fake punt, showed great hustle in covering nearly 40 yards to force a fumble, which rolled out of bounds at the end of the play.

2010 (Freshman): Did not play; spent season as a varsity reserve.

2009: Redshirted as a true freshman in his first season of college eligibility.

High School: A four-year letterman in basketball, baseball and football at Akron High School in Akron, Colo., led his football team to three straight Class 1A football state championships from 2006-08...Garnered all-state honors for football and baseball in 2007, as well as being named the 2007 1A football offensive player of the year...Received all-conference honors in football three straight years from 2006-08, in baseball from 2007-08 and in basketball from 2007-08...Was his high school's class valedictorian at his 2009 graduation...High school football coach was Brian Christensen.
