Coaching Accomplishments
Coach Mick Delaney has tutored some of the finest running backs in school history, including five first-team all-conference selections such as Cecil Sapp in 2000. Sapp was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award as the nation's most outstanding running back.
Sapp set the school's single-season rushing record with 1,601 yards in 2002 on his way to first-team all-conference honors. He also played in two postseason all-star games.
Colorado State has annually ranked among the national leaders in rushing since Mick Delaney's arrival in 1993.
Five times since 1993, a Colorado State running back has led the conference in rushing.
Colorado State is the only school in NCAA Division IA history to have two running backs in successive seasons each rush for more than 1,000 yards. Calvin Branch and Damon Washington did the trick in 1996, while Washington and Kevin McDougal accomplished the same in 1997.

Sapp was named the 2000 Liberty Bowl MVP after he gained 160 yards on 36 carries in leading the Rams to a win over Louisville. Sapp was also named to CBS SportsLine.com's all-bowl squad.
McDougal in 1999 was named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
