Career Division I games played/started: 34/22 (11/10 in 2012; 12/12 in 2011; 11/0 in 2010).

2012 (Junior): In his second full season at tight end, finished the year with 19 catches for 263 yards and two touchdowns. Played in 11 games for the Rams.

  • Was named to preseason watch lists for the John Mackey Award and CFPA Tight End Award, both given annually to the nation's top tight end.
  • Earned second-team All-Mountain West honors from three publications: Athlon, Lindy's, and Phil Steele).
  • Was one of 26 tight ends named to the John Mackey Award midseason watch list on Oct. 15.
  • On the third play of the Rams' opening drive against North Dakota State (Sept. 8), hauled in a 69-yard TD, the longest by a CSU tight end since Joel Dreessen's 85-yard score in 2003. Finished the home-opener with two receptions for 85 yards.
  • In Colorado State's first true road game at San Jose State (Sept. 15), recorded three catches for 26 yards.
  • On the Road at Air Force (Sept. 29), recorded three catches for 36 yards, including a 13-yard TD to pull the Rams within two scores just before halftime.
  • Registered a season-high four catches for 41 yards against Fresno State (Oct. 6).
  • Finished the season with three catches for 46 yards at home against New Mexico (Nov. 24).

2011 (Sophomore): Having shifted from defensive end to tight end just nine days before the spring game, and heading into fall camp as the Rams' No. 1 tight end, started all 12 games...A second-team all-conference selection (MW coaches/media, Phil Steele), finished 10th in the Mountain West with 3.75 receptions per game...Led the team in receptions (45), receiving yards (468) and TD catches (4), averaging 10.4 yards per grab, posting at least three catches in 11 of 12 games...Also threw a 27-yard TD pass...Became the first tight end to lead the Rams in receiving since All-American Keli McGregor in 1984...Earned a spot on the midseason watch list of the John Mackey Award, Oct. 17...Selected first-team midseason all-conference by CollegeFootballNews.com on Oct. 21...Made his offensive debut at New Mexico (Sept. 3), making his first career catch in the second quarter, followed by a leaping 33-yard touchdown, CSU's first of 2010 and the initial score of his career, late in the first half...In home-opening win vs. Northern Colorado (Sept. 10), helped open a hole for Chris Nwoke on a second-quarter TD run...In Denver loss vs. Colorado (Sept. 17), caught five passes for 84 yards, including a 23-yard fourth-quarter touchdown from WR Charles Lovett, off a Pete Thomas lateral; on first CSU drive in Buffs contest, took a screen 34 yards to set up the Rams' first touchdown, and later, in the third quarter, converted a third-and-11 with a 12-yard reception, setting up his TD reception from Lovett... Played a lead role in helping CSU to exhilarating, 35-34 triumph in double overtime at Utah State (Sept. 24)...First, with 42 seconds left after CSU had just pulled to 21-19 with a Chris Nwoke TD run, even after the Rams committed a 5-yard false-start penalty, essentially caught an 8-yard pass from Thomas for a two-point conversion that sent the game to OT; then, in the first overtime period, caught a 7-yard TD in the back of the end zone that knotted the score again...On Nwoke's TD at the end of regulation, somehow blocked two Utah State defenders at the point of attack...In 38-31 loss vs. San Jose State (Oct. 1), caught a pass in a fifth-straight game...In loss vs. No. 5 Boise State (Oct. 15), caught a lateral from Pete Thomas, then lofted a 27-yard touchdown pass to FB Joe Brown to put the Rams on the scoreboard in the second quarter; on next possession, caught two passes for 30 yards, including a 25-yarder, on another touchdown drive...Drew a facemask penalty in loss at UTEP (Oct. 22), putting the Rams on the Miners' doorstep early in second quarter, then set up a fourth-quarter TD with a 9-yard reception on fourth-and-8... Registered an early career high in loss at UNLV (Oct. 29) with six catches, several in clutch fashion, including a go-ahead 1-yard TD early in the second half; the score increased his TD total to four, most by a CSU player since WR Dion Morton had four in 2009, and the most by a CSU tight end since Kory Sperry had six in 2008...In windy, 18-15 loss vs. San Diego State (Nov. 12), extended his season-long streak of games with a catch to nine, including a 14-yard play on third-and-6 to extend an eventual game-tying TD drive in the fourth quarter; also delivered a key block on Chris Nwoke's 63-yard TD run in the first quarter...In loss vs. Air Force (Nov. 26), saw his 10-game reception streak end...In season finale vs. Wyoming (Dec. 3), left with an injury midway through the fourth quarter.

2010 (Freshman): Began August practice as a tight end but converted to defensive end shortly before the season opener, filling an injury void...Played in 11 games...Totaled 11 tackles (eight solo), with two stops for loss, including a big sack in his first college game...Also recovered a fumble, broke up a pass, and had one QB hurry...Made his college debut, one of seven true freshmen to do so for CSU, in season-opener vs. Colorado (Sept. 4) at Invesco Field...Despite moving to defensive end only three weeks earlier, saw plenty of playing time in Buffs contest and threw QB Tyler Hansen for a 16-yard loss, his first career sack, to thwart a fourth-quarter drive nearing field-goal position and force a punt...Missed most of the week's practice (respiratory illness) and played just one series at Miami-Ohio (Sept. 18)...Saw several series in loss vs. No. 5 TCU (Oct. 2) and played most of the game at No. 25 Air Force (Oct. 9); threw QB Tim Jefferson for a 3-yard loss on a third-and-5 run, forcing a fourth-quarter punt...In fourth quarter of 43-10 win vs. UNLV (Oct. 16), recovered a fumble by QB Caleb Herring at midfield, setting up a CSU field goal...Did not play at SDSU (Nov. 6)...Converted back to tight end nine days before the 2011 spring game, again filling an injury void.

High School: Garnered first-team all-district honors as both a wide receiver and defensive end, in multiple years at both positions, at Bushland (Texas) High School, near Amarillo in the Texas panhandle...Was a four-year starter for a program that began in his freshman year; helped team win 34 of its 38 games over his final three seasons...The first 1,000-yard receiver in school history, caught a BHS record 22 TD passes as a senior, and also racked up 26 career sacks on the defensive front...Caught at least one TD in 13 consecutive games, from 2008-09...A team captain in 2009, guided the Falcons to the Texas Class 2A Division II state championship game, where BHS sustained its season's only loss to finish 15-1...Had 45 catches for 1,142 yards (25.4 avg.) and 22 scores - one TD for every two receptions - to earn 2009 honorable-mention all-state, first-team all-district, the Golden Spread 2A-3A Player of the Year, and the Amarillo Globe-News Offensive Player of the Year...Defensively, picked up Class 1-2A Defensive MVP honors (Rivals.com), first-team all-district, and first-team all-Golden Spread honors, collecting 88 tackles, nine sacks, three passes broken up, four fumble recoveries and one interception...In 2008, again earned first-team all-district and all-Golden Spread honors as a wide receiver, helping BHS to a 10-1 record with 35 receptions for 644 yards and 14 TDs...Also secured first-team all-state, first-team all-district and all-Golden Spread recognition as a defensive end, where he had 81 tackles, nine sacks, eight passes batted down, three fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles...As a sophomore in 2007, received first-team all-district and all-Golden Spread honors on defense, sparking the Falcons to a 9-2 mark with 67 tackles, five sacks, one INT and five forced fumbles...Saw limited offensive action as a freshman and sophomore, picking up 12 combined catches and six TD...Had three sacks, six interceptions and three fumble recoveries as a freshman...A four-sport athlete, also lettered three times in basketball, twice in track and twice in wrestling (had planned to continue participation in wrestling and track as a senior)...The district high-jump champion in 2009, took home first-team all-district honors in 2009, and second-team all-district in 2008...Head football coach was David Flowers...Had 4.72 speed in the 40-yard dash...Gained 25 pounds after his junior season...Also recruited by Missouri, New Mexico, TCU, UTEP, Oklahoma State and Utah.
