2012 (Freshman): Played in one game for the Rams during the 2012 campaign. Lined up on the special teams unit against nationally ranked Boise State (Nov. 17).

2011: Was on the scout team at the Colorado School of Mines...Earned scout team Defensive Player of the Year honors on a team that won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

High School:

• Attended Douglas County High School in Castle Rock, Colo.
• Earned seven total letters; three in football and four in lacrosse.
• Named first-team All-Southern League in lacrosse his junior and senior year.
• Also as a junior and senior, was named second-team all-conference as a defensive back for the Husky's football team.
• Garnered all-state academic honorable mention for football and lacrosse in 2010.
• Made Douglas County's honor roll his final three years of high school.
• Head football coach was Jeff Ketron.
• Played against current Colorado State running back Chris Nwoke.

Personal: Given name is Casey Joy...born on Oct. 13, 1991 in Parker, Colo. ...parents are Megen Sassman and Brent Joy...his mother briefly swam at Colorado State and his father played football at the Colorado School of Mines...has five siblings; an older brother, Brandon and an older sister, Amanda, as well as three younger siblings Anna, Jonah and Barrett...majoring in liberal arts at CSU.
