2012 (Freshman): Redshirted as a true freshman in his first season of college eligibility.

High School: A defensive end with 4.5-second speed, earned a pair of all-district honors at Mansfield Summit High School, 15 miles from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas...A three-year starter and three-year letterman, missed only two games as a varsity player...Played exclusively as a defensive end, combining for seven sacks and five forced fumbles over his final two seasons...Helped the Jaguars to consecutive appearances in the area round of the Texas 4A playoffs, as a junior and senior...Garnered first-team all-District 7/4A honors as a team captain 2011, on a 10-2 squad that won its district championship; started every contest and had 56 tackles, three sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble...A second-team all-district selection as a junior for a district runner-up, had 47 stops, four sacks and four forced fumbles, despite missing playing time with injury, helping MSHS go 9-3 and again advance to the area round of the postseason...Also was in the lineup for every game of his sophomore season, his first year as a varsity player...Also lettered three years in track, throwing the discus...Head football coach was Travis Pride...In addition to his 4.5 speed in the 40, also bench pressed 315 pounds and carried a 3.2 GPA.
