Postgame Notes

Colorado State at Boise State - Nov. 17, 2012

2012 (Senior): After suffering a season-ending knee injury against Northern Colorado on Sept. 10, 2011 returned to action in 2012 and played in all 12 contests. Finished the year with two receptions for 17 yards.

  • Registered a six-yard reception at Air Force (Sept. 29) to set up the rams with a reasonable third down. The drive ended with a CSU touchdown. This was his first reception since Sept. 3, 2011.
  • As a blocking tight end is used often in goal line situations and helped the Rams punch in critical touchdowns throughout the 2012 campaign.
  • Came in on a crucial third down at Boise State (Nov. 17) as a part of a three tight end package and helped Chris Nwoke pick up a much-needed first down.
  • Had a career-long 11-yard reception in his final collegiate game at home against New Mexico (Nov. 24).

2011 (Junior): After shifting from linebacker to fullback on Aug. 18, little more than two weeks before the opener, played in the first two games, with one start, but sustained a season-ending knee injury in Week 2...Wound up with one reception for 4 yards...Coaches saw enough in him over his first few practices to dub him the starting fullback entering the opener at New Mexico (Sept. 3)...Made his offensive debut in Lobos contest, entering the game on the second play; caught his first career pass, in the third quarter...A week later vs. Northern Colorado (Sept. 10), made his first major-college start, in the CSU backfield, but on the Rams' first offensive play, a 31-yard Raymond Carter run that set up a quick TD, sustained a knee injury and did not return...In Denver loss vs. Colorado (Sept. 17), his first game out of action, was the first player to congratulate his brother after a key, 34-yard reception that set up a first-quarter TD.

2010 (Sophomore): A January transfer from Division II West Texas A&M, earned playing time for CSU during spring practice and played in seven games...Had four total stops (three solo), with one tackle for loss...Made his CSU debut in season-opener vs. Colorado (Sept. 4) at Invesco Field, on special teams...Battled injury but worked his way back into the special-teams coverage units and returned to action in win vs. UNLV (Oct. 16)...At No. 9 Utah (Oct. 23), saw fourth-quarter action at linebacker...Saw extensive snaps at SDSU (Nov. 6).

Junior College: Did not play in two seasons, including a redshirt year, at Division II West Texas A&M of the Lone Star Conference...Tranferred to Colorado State to enroll in January 2010 and practiced the entire spring with the Rams.

High School: A three-sport athlete at Bushland High School in Bushland, Texas, lettered in football (1), basketball (2) and track (4)...Teammates were fellow Rams Weston Richburg and Crockett Gillmore, his brother...High school football coach was David Flowers.

Personal: Given name Austin Gillmore...Born Oct. 8, 1989, in Amarillo, Texas...Parents are Phillip and Rose Gillmore...Has two older brothers, a younger brother, Crockett (his teammate at CSU), and a younger sister...For a week during the summer of 2010, helped struggling students with reading at Bacon Elementary in Fort Collins...Made a couple Saturday appearances at the Centre Avenue Health & Rehab Facility in Fort Collins, working social events with patients, in February 2011...In the summer of 2011, devoted a day to meeting and playing with kids at the Boys and Girls Club in Wellington, Colo. ...A health and exercise science major...Hometown: Bushland, Texas.
