Rams quick hits
• Colorado State enters the 2012-13 men’s basketball season under the direction of new head coach Larry Eustachy, in his 22nd season as a head coach at the NCAA Division I level.
• The Colorado State basketball program is looking for its fourth-consecutive postseason appearance, and its second straight NCAA Tournament berth, in 2012-13.
•  The Rams return an experienced roster in 2012-13, as seven letterwinners from the Rams’ 2011-12 squad are back in the Green and Gold this season.
• The Rams will welcome a host of talented newcomers to the court this season, including Division I transfers Colton Iverson (Minnesota) and Daniel Bejarano (Arizona) who sat out 2011-12 per NCAA transfer rules.
• Other Rams’ newcomers are: Junior F Gerson Santo, sophomore guards Jon Octeus and Josh Morgan, and freshman guards Jordan Mason and Joe De Ciman
• Colorado State posted a 14-1 mark at Moby Arena in 2012-13, the program’s best home win percentage (.933) since the Arena opened in 1966.
• Entering Monday’s contest against Northern Colorado, the Rams are receiving two votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top-25 rankings.
• Colorado State has been selected to finish fourth in the Mountain West preseason media poll for the fourth consecutive season.  In 2011-12, CSU finished in fourth place, but notched victories over each of the programs - San Diego State, UNLV and New Mexico - that finished ahead of them in the league standings.
• In early August, the CSU basketball program spent five days together at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. Per NCAA rules, the team was allotted 10 days of practice leading up to the trip, and then played an exhibition contest against the Bahamas All-Stars, winning 95-80 behind a double-double effort (18 points, 14 rebounds) from Colton Iverson
• Following the Rams’ Nov. 15 victory over Chadron State, Colorado State men’s basketball has won a school-record 15 straight home games at Moby Arena, the team’s home since 1966.
• Colorado State closed the 2011-12 season ranking as one of the most efficient offensive teams in the country.  The Rams led the Mountain in field-goal percentage (.471), three-point percentage (.400) and free-throw percentage (.768).
• The 2012-13 season marks the 110th in the history of the Colorado State men’s basketball program. The Rams are 1,133-1,170 (.492) in 2,303 games all-time.

About Northern Colorado
• The Bears enter Monday’s matchup with a 1-2 record after suffering a 69-60 loss at home to Wyoming Nov. 21.
• Monday marks UNC’s second road game of the season. Northern Colorado lost at Cal Poly 64-53 Nov. 15 in its first away game.
• UNC poured in 127 points in its season opener at home against Southwest.
• Head Coach B.J. Hill is in his third season at Northern Colorado. He owns a 31-32 all-time record with the bears, which includes a 0-2 record against CSU.
• Northern Colorado returns four starters from last year’s squad that went 9-19 and tied for seventh in the Big Sky Conference. The Bears were picked to finish third in the conference’s preseason coaches’ poll.
• Junior Paul Garnica leads the Bears averaging 11.0 points, while shooting 53.8 percent from the floor over three games. Sophomore Tim Huskisson (10.3) is the only other UNC player to average double digits.
• The Bears have held their opponents to 34.9 percent shooting (65-186) and 28.9 percent (60-75) from beyond the arc.

Series vs. Northern Colorado
• The rivalry between Colorado State and Northern Colorado is the program’s oldest, dating back to the first ever Colorado State basketball game, a 64-15 win in 1901.
• The Rams have had great success against the Bears, posting a 63-35 (.642) record against UNC.
• The Rams have won eight of the last 10 meetings, including two straight since a loss at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion in 2009-10.
• The Rams have posted a 44-11 mark against the Bears in games played in Fort Collins, and have won nine straight games against the UNC at Moby Arena.
• In the last meeting, guard Dorian Green had a career night, going for 36 points in the Rams’ road victory.

Rams vs. the Big Sky Conference
• Colorado State is 127-56 (.694) all-time against current members of the Big Sky Conference, with a majority of those matchups coming against in-state rival Northern Colorado (98 games).
• When hosting a Big Sky opponent, the Rams have impressed with an 88-22 mark (.800).
• Colorado State is 1-0 this season against the Big Sky Conference, having defeated preseason favorite Montana, 72-65, in the Rams’ season opener, Nov. 9.

A win over Northern Colorado will...
• Move Colorado State to 5-0 to open the 2012-13 season, the Rams’ best start since the program posted a 6-0 record to open the 2005-06 season.
• Extend the Rams’ home-court win streak to 16 straight games, extending the team’s Moby Arena record and moving within six home wins of the program’s all-time home win streak of 22.
• Give the Rams a 64-35 advantage in the series against the Bears, including a 47-13 mark at Moby Arena.

A winning era
• CSU’s fourth-year seniors – Dorian Green, Pierce Hornung and Greg Smith – have been a part of 59 wins during their careers at Colorado State (entering Monday’s game vs. Northern Colorado).
• That total, just four games into their senior season, ranks just outside the top-20 in program history for wins in a four-year period.
• The school record for wins in a four-year period is 81 victories from 1987-88 to 1990-91. The team would need 26 wins in 2012-13 to tie that record, and entered this year 20 wins away from the top-5 on that list of most successful four-year periods in program history
• Below is a list of the top-5 win totals in a four-year period in program history:
 1987-88-1990-91--81 wins
 1986-87-1989-90--79 wins
 1996-97-1999-00--77 wins
 1995-96-1998-99--77 wins
 1994-95-1997-98--75 wins

The importance of road wins
• CSU Head Coach Larry Eustachy has stressed the importance of Road wins to his team since stepping on campus for the first time last April.
• In 2011-12, under Tim Miles, the Rams earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament despite a 3-9 road record.
• Entering the 2012-13 season, Eustachy was 84-152 (.356) in his career in road contests, but his win percentage on the road jumps to .525 (42-38) in seasons that he has led his programs to the postseason.
•  In four seasons that ended in NCAA Tournament appearances at Southern Miss (2011-12), Iowa State (1999-00 and 2000-01) and Utah State (1997-98), Eustachy’s programs were an impressive 26-20 (.565) on the road.
• Colorado State is 2-0 on the road this season, following back-to-back road wins at Denver (60-53) and at Washington (73-55) last week. It marks the 15th time in program history that CSU has won its first two road games, and the first time since 2006-07 (3-0 start).

Newcomers making impact
• Although returning a veteran squad in 2012-13, the CSU men’s basketball team has already seen significant impact from several newcomers through three games this season.
• Senior C Colton Iverson is averaging a team-leading 16.3 points per game, while pulling down 10.5 rebounds per game, and has led the Rams in scoring in three of his first four games, while notching back-to-back double-doubles at DU and at Washington.
• Sophomore G Daniel Bejarano ranks fourth on the team in scoring  (8.8 ppg) and third in rebounding (5.3 rpg), and is coming off a career-high 13 points, including three three-pointers, in the Rams’ win at Washington.
• Sophomore G Jon Octeus saw a bulk of the minutes at point guard for the Rams vs. Chadron State, and bounced back from a slow debut vs. Montana, with 13 points and a game-high five assists against the Eagles.
• Junior F Gerson Santo also had a breakout performance in the Rams’ second game of the season, vs. Chadron State, posting 12 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and an assist in 21 minutes off the bench. At Washington, Santo tallied four points and three rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench for the Rams.
