Opening tip

  • Colorado State continues a 10-game home stand, hosting the second contest of the Colorado State Challenge on Monday evening against Prairie View A&M.
  • The tilt between the Rams and the Panthers is set for a 7 p.m. MT tipoff at Moby Arena.
  • The game will air across the Colorado State Radio Network, including flagship 105.5 FM ESPN, with Gary Miller and Brian Roth calling the action.
  • Streaming video is available, as part of the new Mountain West Network, for free at CSURams.com/videos and TheMW.com.
  • The matchup will mark the second between the Rams and the Panthers, winning the only previous meeting, 85-73 on Dec. 27, 2002.
  • The Rams' 10-game home stand is the longest in program history, surpassing a stretch of seven consecutive home games played during the 1965-66 season.

 

About Prairie View A&M

  • Prairie View A&M enters Monday's matchup against the Rams with a 1-3 record, including and an 0-2 mark on the road  this year. 
  • Byron Rimm II is in his seventh season as head coach at Prairie View A&M where he has compiled an 89-136 record. 
  • In his third season, Rimm led the Panthers to a 17-16 record and third-place finish in the SWAC, marking just the second time the program has finished with a winning record since moving up to the Division I ranks in 1980. 
  • The Panthers return seven lettermen and one starter from last year's team that finished 15-19 and made an appearance in the SWAC Tournament Championship. • Prairie View A&M returns senior forward Jules Montgomery who was named the 2013-14 SWAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Last season, Montgomery averaged 7.6 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game and blocked a team-high 31 shots. 
  • This season, the Panthers are led by junior guard Montrael Scott who is pacing the team with 18.0 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game.

Series vs. Prairie View A&M

  • Friday's matchup between Colorado State and Prairie View A&M marks just the second in the series between the programs.  
  • The Rams 1-0 against Panthers, capturing the first and only meeting between the schools on Dec. 27, 2003 by a final of 85-73.

Rams vs. the SWAC

  • All-time, Colorado State is 6-0 against the current 10-team membership of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
  • All six victories have come at Moby Arena. 
  • The Rams own victories against Alabama State (1-0),  Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-0), Prairie View A&M (1-0) and Texas Southern (1-0).   
  • Colorado State has never played against Alabama A&M, Alcorn State, Grambling, Jackson State, Mississippi Valley or Southern.

 A win over Prairie View A&M will...

  • Give Head Coach Larry Eustachy his 30th win at Colorado State and the 431st of his career.\
  • Extend Colorado State's non-conference home winning streak to 18 games, a streak that extends back to Nov. 19, 2011, when the Eustachy-led Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles defeated the Rams 79-58 at Moby Arena.
  • Push CSU's overall home court win streak to six games.
  • Give the Rams 27 straight home wins against unranked opponents.
  • Improve the Rams to 2-0 all-time against Prairie View A&M.
