FORT COLLINS, Colo. – CSU’s football team hopes to erase the sour taste left by a tough loss at Air Force. The Rams now must win their final two games to become bowl eligible. The team plays New Mexico Saturday at noon.
After what figures to be a bitter fight this week, against a New Mexico club that has stolen consecutive games from the Rams on walk-off field goals, CSU faces a tough road trip to meet a Wyoming squad that just went into Knoxville and stunned Tennessee Saturday.
Saturday marks Senior Day, the final college home game for 16 players. Fallen warrior Mike Pagnotta also will be honored. It’s also New Mexico’s final 2008 game.
Fans that bring a specially marked Mountain Dew can to the game vs. New Mexico will receive a buy-one/get-one-free ticket to the game.
Gartrell Johnson to host chat
On Wednesday at 11:15 a.m., CSU football player Gartrell Johnson will be hosting a live chat online at CSURams.com. Fans can submit their questions early by visiting http://csurams.cstv.com/chat/110808aaa.html.
The Rams will open their 2008-09 season on Friday night at 7 p.m. against Montana. It will mark the first of five straight home games for CSU to open the season. CSU will try to pay back the Grizzlies after Montana beat the Rams last season in Missoula to open the season. Green machine T-shirts will be handed out to the first 500 fans.
Pizza Hut Green Machine Hoops Assembly, presented by KCSU
In order to get students excited about the upcoming basketball season, Pizza Hut and KCSU are hosting a student-only event to meet and interact with the 2008-09 CSU men’s basketball team Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
The first 200 students will receive free pizza courtesy of Pizza Hut.
Students will watch the last 30 minutes of practice and then team members will introduce themselves to the crowd. The event features a question-and-answer session with Head Coach Tim Miles. In addition, three students will be chosen to compete in a slam dunk contest judged by CSU players, and one student will take on Miles in a game of R-A-M, an abbreviated version of H-O-R-S-E.
Pizza Hut now offers two new ways to enjoy pizza at a great price for students: new stuffed pizza rolls starting at $1.49 or Pizza Mia for just $5 when three or more are ordered. Orders can be made on-line at www.Pizzahut.com.
Next the Rams will host San Diego State at home, Thursday at 7 p.m. The weekend concludes with UNLV Sunday at 1 p.m. to wrap up the regular-season home schedule.
Thursday’s game is CSU Favorite Professor Night. CSU volleyball players will invite their favorite professor to the match for a special recognition ceremony. Green and Gold T-shirts will be handed out to the first 200 fans.
Sunday’s match is the BIG sendoff on Senior Day. Seniors Mekana Barnes, Ashley Fornstrom and Jaime Strauss will be honored before the game. Fans can redeem any unused tickets from the 2008 season for a general-admission ticket. Or, fans will receive $3 tickets with a New Mexico ticket stub from Saturday’s football game in Fort Collins.
The 2008 NCAA Regional championships on Saturday will be hosted by CSU and held at the Collindale Golf Course located at Horsetooth Road and Timberline Road in Fort Collins. The women’s race will begin at 11 a.m. and the men will begin at 11:45 a.m.
