Fans will get a preview of the CSU basketball teams
Oct. 5, 2007
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Moby Arena will be rockin' later this month, when both CSU basketball programs will join the Rams' volleyball team to host a night fans won't soon forget.
On Thursday, Oct. 18, at 10 p.m., fans will have their first opportunity to see new Head Coach Tim Miles in action with his team at an event the school has dubbed `10 O'clock Rock.'
In addition to Miles' players, Head Coach Jen Warden will suit up her new women's team, led by senior Sarah Hunter. Players will be introduced to music, keeping with the theme of the night. Then, each team will take part in a three-point shootout, participate with younger fans in an on-floor contest called `2 Ball,' and scrimmage. Selected players also will square off in a slam-dunk contest, judged by celebrities. The evening will include remarks from both head coaches, and will end with an autograph session.
Colorado State chose Oct. 18 because the Poudre School District will not hold classes the following day, a Friday, and neither the Denver Nuggets nor Colorado Avalanche will be in action. Even the Colorado Rockies, who hopefully are still playing in the National League postseason, are not scheduled to play that night.
The basketball portion of the evening is free to the public. Fans who purchase tickets to the volleyball match, which begins at 7 p.m. that night, won't be disappointed, however. Head Coach Tom Hilbert and his red-hot Rams, currently ranked No. 25 in the nation, will face arguably their season's toughest test, a home contest against No. 23 BYU that surely will factor into the Mountain West's regular-season volleyball title.
Fans who wish to attend only basketball festivities will be allowed into Moby Arena without a ticket around 8:30 p.m. The evening also will include prizes, giveaways, and food and beverage promotions.
