CSU students show their Ram pride during the Rams' victory over No. 17 UNLV last winter at Moby Arena.
Sept. 28, 2012
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The first games of the highly anticipated 2012-13 basketball season don’t begin until late October, but Rams fans will have a unique opportunity to get a sneak peak at both the men’s and women’s squads when Colorado State hosts “Moby Madness” on Monday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Moby Arena.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for the free season-opening event, which will feature introductions of both the men’s and women’s teams, a three-point shootout, and several skills competitions and crowd involvement games leading up to high-flying slam dunk contest by the men’s basketball team.
In addition, fans will get great insight directly from first-year head coaches Larry Eustachy and Ryun Williams, as they talk about which players to watch for in 2012-13, and players from both squads will be available for autograph sessions at the end of the evening.
Fans entering Moby Arena for the fun-filled event are encouraged to sign up for their opportunity to be a part of the action. Sign up stations will be positioned on the north concourse of Moby Arena where fans can enter for the opportunity to showcase their skills on the court in a variety of competitions, including a three-point shootout and slam dunk contest just for students.
The event will also serve as a drop-off point for any fans wishing to make a donation to Cans Around the Oval, a Colorado State University tradition, where students, faculty and staff partner with community members, local media and area businesses to raise awareness about the issue of hunger, as well as raise food and monetary donations. The annual event is Larimer County's largest food drive.
The CSU men’s basketball team officially opens its season with an exhibition matchup against Metro State on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. The women’s team hosts its exhibition opener at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1 against the Colorado School of Mines.
