FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State University Rams men’s basketball team has added Mark Graupe, a 21-year coaching veteran to its coaching staff, Head Coach Tim Miles announced today.

Graupe (pronounced GRAWP-e) comes to Fort Collins from Lake Region College in Devils Lake, N.D. after seven successful seasons as the Head Coach of the Royals in which he posted an overall record of 126-95. In his final three seasons at Lake Region, his teams posted 20 or more wins each season including back-to-back Region 13 titles in 2007 and 2008. During that stretch, Graupe was named the region Coach of the Year both seasons. Prior to taking the reins at Lake Region, Graupe spent 14 years as a head coach in the high school ranks.

“We are so happy to have Mark Graupe join us,” said Miles. “I’ve known and respected Coach Graupe for almost 20 years and his experience and knowledge will be a great asset for the Rams.”

Graupe earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota in 1987 and his master’s degree from UND in 2004. He was recently honored by UND as the 2008 winner of the Thomas J. Clifford Award for excellence in the coaching profession.
